Minneappolis Institute of Art

13th June :

Thank you for your request to reproduce Embroidered Box, English, 1662 (acc. no. 95.14a-bb) on your wiki about

embroidery.

I have attached a copy of our permission form for reproduction rights.  Please complete the form and return it to

my attention at the museum.  Note that we request the credit line: Minneapolis Institute of Arts, plus donor credit

as space allows.  We also ask that the image is not altered in any way (cropped, over-typed, etc.) unless prior

approval is given by the museum.   I have attached an object fact sheet for your reference.

The reproduction fee has been waived as this site is educational.  We ask that you send us the URL for the page

where the image(s) will appear.

Following are the requirements for image use on the World Wide Web (internet):

·        maximum size of the image 640 x 480 pixels @ 72 dpi;

·        a credit to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts with a copyright symbol is included; and

·        there is a hotlink from our credit line to our website; the URL is

            http://www.artsMIA.org

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via email at permissions@artsmia.org. Thank you for your request.

Sincerely,Heidi Raatz

Good morning Megan (here anyway!),

Thank you kindly for the corrections.  You've even included the object information from the
fact sheet, which may be useful for visitors to your site (all the details it describes) but
was not required to include — I sent that along mainly for your reference.  No worries
if you'd like to keep it on the site.

Yes, printing out, signing and faxing or e-mailing the completed permissions form is
quite acceptable.  You can even use an e-signature if that is easier for you than printing
out and re-scanning.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if I can be of further assistance.

V&A museum
12th August - All V&A images removed from Wiki (replaced by links) ------------- from r.chahal@vam.ac.uk, 20th July

Dear Megan Hodges,

Thank you for your enquiry and interest in V&A Images.

The images you have obtained from Search The Collections online are not available for any electronic use and so by publishing our images on your website, without first gaining permission you are in direct breach of our t&c's.

In order to rectify the situation, I would need a complete list of V&A images and/or museum numbers that you have used and would then need to issue you with a licence for web-use. The licence would cover a period of 5 years and the cost will be dependent on the number of images used.

For you reference I have attached a copy of our Terms and Conditions for non-commercial web-use which I ask you to read and confirm that you are happy to abide by. Please also provide the information requested in this attachment.

Should you be unable to accept our terms, we would ask you to remove the images immediately, however, you would be free to keep the links back to the V&A Museum website to illustrate your text.

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience so that we may resolve the matter as soon as possible.

Please quote the 3 digit reference number assigned in all future correspondence.

With kind regards
Miss Revinder Chahal

Query sent to Revinder the same day regarding the cost of fees as this is a show stopper, plus the list of images used the following day.

  -----------

29th July
Dear Megan,

Thanks for the list. Could you just clarify if the images of details
for each object have also been obtained from the V&A website?

Ordinarily there would be a charge of £30+VAT per every 10 images used
on the web and the licence would cover a period of 5 years from the date
the images go live on the web.

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

---------
29th July If you had obtained the images from books, the same terms and
conditions would apply, there would be a charge of £30+VAT per 10 images displayed on the web for a period of 5 years.

At present, out terms and conditions for non-commercial web-use stand and if you are unable to pay the licence fee I will have to ask you to remove all images immediately from your web site to resolve the issue.

You may retain the links to the original objects on the V&A website if you wish, but not the images. Within the Academic Team of V&A Images, we deal with many non-commercial web projects which, as you can imagine, are almost entirely educational in nature. If I were to make the
exception for you, I would have to extend this courtesy to all others inthe academic sector and at this point in time I am unable to offer this option.

I hope this explains V&A Images position clearly, please let me know once you have removed the images and if you have any further queries.

Best Wishes,
Revinder
